Class Description: Tighter turn-around times for self-tapes demand a comprehensive understanding of television/streaming networks and genres to jumpstart your prep work before you even get the audition!
In both sessions, we will explore one overall genre and dive into a subgenre each week. By exploring tone, pace, and size, actors will leave with a deep understanding of how to align their choices with the specific styles of various networks and genres prevalent in the Southeast market.
Session I: DRAMA
Participants will submit an assigned self tape ahead of class and then work live in class to hone in on each week’s subgenre.
Week I: Genre/Network Intro & exploration of “slice of life” dramas
Week 2: Procedurals
Week 3: Sci Fi/Fantasy/Action
Session II: COMEDY
Participants will submit an assigned self tape ahead of class and then work live in class to hone in on each week’s subgenre.
Week I: Genre/Network Intro and exploration of single cam comedies
Week 2: Multi-Cam
Week 3: Mockumentary/Kids shows
